Slip, Trips or Fall Accidents
Slips, trips and falls are common occurrences in the workplace – even though these types of accidents can often be easily avoided.
Have you been injured in the workplace?
Perhaps you’ve had a fall at your place of work? Maybe you’ve slipped and been injured as a result? Employers have a duty of care to take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of their employee. Because of this, they not only have to risk assess the jobs their employees do but the general workplace itself. Simple steps aimed at reducing the likelihood of slips and trips occurring include making sure there are no tripping hazards, ensuring that all areas are well lit, providing handrails on stairs, applying anti-slip paint to floors and putting in place a system of cleaning and inspection to reduce the risk from any spillages. On top of this, employers need to be reactive so for example if there are periods of inclement weather, when there is snow or ice, they should apply grit and salt to affected areas. However, falls can still happen!
